Recently, in my television viewing, I came across an uplifting story about peach farming. Being a "Georgia peach", myself, the story got my attention. Among the peach farmers whose lives were highlighted was that of David Mas Masumoto of California. Mr. Masumoto and his family are second generation farmers in California. He has written poems and books about his farming life, and he shared his experiences with the viewers. One of his books, by the way, is titled, Epitaph for A Peach.
He quoted from his book: "Following a farm disaster, like a storm, that destroys a year's work, a joke starts to circulate in the farm community--farmer to farmer--farm to farm. Like good humor, it makes all of us smile even just a little, as we grapple with the grief from a disaster. The story goes like this...They did an autopsy on an old farmer, and when they opened him up, they found he was full of next years."
Real estate agents (some of us), I think, are like farmers, too. I definitely am. I was ready for "next year" back in August last year.
My spirit, drive, and my passion for the life I've chosen in helping buyers and sellers of real property doesn't end. If I didn't meet my business goals in the year just passed, I am fired up to "find a new way" to make things work in the year ahead.
GOOD NEWS: It is now Next Year. Next Year is Now.
