2009 Prince William County Home Sales Data Now Final - See MRIS Report

The Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc. (MRIS) released data recently for final statistics on property sales for the calendar year 2009 for Prince William County (including Manassas City and Manassas Park).

The average sales price was $227,124 (2009) versus $249,862 (in 2008); the median numbers: $196,000 (2009) versus $219,000 (2008). 

Total transfers in 2009 were 10,038, down from 10,842 in 2008.

Properties financed by conventional loans were 2499; FHA: 3901; VA: 1513.  The number of buyers who paid in cash were 1854.

Home Sales Data for 2009 Now Released by MRIS- Avg. Prices Decline by 6.25% with 20,404 Transactions

The Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc. (MRIS) released data recently for final statistics on property sales for the calendar year 2009.

In the Northern Virginia area (not including Loudoun County, nor Prince William County), the average sales price was $431,622 (2009) versus $460,392 (in 2008); the median numbers: $370,000 (2009) versus $385,000 (2008). 

Total transfers in 2009 were 20,404, an increase of 1806 over 2009 transfers.

Properties financed by conventional loans were 10,293; FHA: 5924; VA: 1593.  The number of buyers who paid in cash were 2182.

  • Garden and Other To Do:
    a)Take soil samples of your lawn; submit to your local State Extension office prior to fertilizing or applying lime. It is important to know your lawn's ph and important to know the level of chemicals now found in the soil.
  • Lawn To Do1:
    b)Inspect trees and shrubs for winter damage; prune and trim as needed. If you have ornamental grasses, they should be cut now to a heighth of about 6" prior to the start of new growth. c)Apply lawn pre-emergent to prevent/control the production of crabgrass and other undesirable grasses. d)Apply lawn fertilizer. Fertilizers which have a higher slow release of nitrogen (high WIN content) are preferred; organics are also preferred. Do your soil test early before fertilizing. e)Aearate your lawn if possible.
